Things are not going all that well in Skartaris as it is not only Shamballah that has fallen, but Ashir’s kingdom as well. Not only that, but he managed to get himself captured along with everyone else. Luckily Shakira is there to set him free, and along with Scarhart, they manage to get back to Morgan and Tara to find that everyone is basically in the same boat. There is a lot of action this issue with some planning going on to reclaim the kingdoms that have been taken by the New Atlanteans, but first Morgan and company are going to need some men. They have some, those that fled with them and some stragglers who have been making their way to the camp as well, but it is time for some bold moves and that involves freeing slaves wherever they can find them. The ongoing plot of the silver cassette tape that Morgan found that represents an impossibility also continues as the item in question goes missing. So while they free slaves and are able to gain a ship, Morgan determines that it is the right time to take said ship and head back down into that mysterious cavern where he found it some time ago. Of course, Morgan wishes to set off alone for he is always one for adventuring, but Tara insists that she tag along and that the two of them always remain together from now on if their relationship is to survive. There are a few laughs courtesy of writer Cary Burkett involving Shakira, Tara and Ashir and on the whole the book was quite fun and full of excitement.
