Lyrical Musings – Video Boundaries

With the advent of the internet and streaming services, today, people no longer have to stay up until the wee hours of the morning to watch those few music videos that flashed a little nudity and were considered avant-garde, not to mention taboo as well, on the worst local cable stations the world had to offer.  Now you can see them anytime you want, at any time of the day.

Some are quite good and some are quite bad.  Some artists use the nudity to further the merits and vision of the song, while others simply do it just to do it.  Big Butts?  It needed some big butts.  Pussy by Rammstein?  Self-explanatory.  Girls on Film? Who knows?

In the last couple of years some bigger name artists, as well as newcomers, have been dabbling in NSFW videos.  It worked wonders for Robin Thicke and everyone was talking about Miley’s Wrecking Ball by exposing them worldwide and getting them the numbers they needed.

As long as there are music videos there will always be those that want to push the boundaries to see how far they can take it.  Whether it gets people talking or watching is another matter.  Here are some of the better videos from the last couple of years which are considered not safe for work, though compared to most movies today, they are really quite tame.
