X-51, the Machine Man is put under a series of tests by Kublai Khan in every conceivable way to see if his body will be the one to receive the Kahn’s consciousness. There is a lot of action this issue, just as there has been in many of the previous issues, but it feels like the series is not really going anywhere. X-51 wants to get in touch with his humanity, but it seems like that mission has been taking a backseat lately to other events. Wolfman still does a great job scripting and Ditko’s pencils have never been better, but the book still seems a little directionless, especially after setting up Khan as a possible long-term villain only to have it supposedly finish up this issue. Good, but not great.
