Morgan and Mariah are back in Skartaris when they decide to stop in town on the way back to Tara and Shamballah.  While there, they reconnect with Machiste only to find out he has been possessed by a magical axe.

Grell continues our hero and newfound friend, Mariah Romanova’s return to Skartaris which of course contains a lot of action and more of the mystical time effect in play.  More happens with Mariah getting a makeover, a friendship is tested, Machiste loses a hand, and Morgan is a little old school when it comes to women.  Mariah and Morgan are starting to strike up a friendship which the book could use.  There are supporting characters, but are not often present most times and with Mariah being a travelling companion at the least, it gives Morgan someone to play off of.  The action sequences both in this book and the previous issues are still the standout feature with Grell’s pencils exquisite to look at.  The pages are dynamic and exciting and they really pop off the page when they take place.  One thing that this book cannot be accused of is being dull.
