A number of notable things happen in this issue, the first being the death of Lydia which sees Diana quite ecstatic, though holding it in as best she can for fear that her superior Philip will think something is up. As Lydia is dispersed into protoplasm, it floats down to the planet below where Ham and Chris are searching Chicago for a torture factory and yet when discovered, it is not what they think it to be. Cary Bates continues to move things forward at a steady and deliberate pace with a definite surprise to open the book as well as giving two of his protagonists a bit of trouble, perhaps more than they are able to get themselves out of. Be that as it may, readers soon find that the snakes have no idea just who it is they have captured and while they had death in mind, Chris and Ham give it to the Visitors instead, freeing those trapped within the factory. Elsewhere, Bates also continues the story of Mike and Julie who have been trying to keep the children they discovered calm and pacified until they can figure out what to do with them. That being said, they are still looking after Bron as well and while he finds the actions of his race despicable and quite horrible, he finds that some think the same of him once his true identity is discovered. With all of that, the book is left on a cliff-hanger which finds Bron, Mike and Julie sentenced to death and with nobody else around to save them, this looks like it could be it for the freedom fighters. Also on the book with Bates is Carmine Infantino who brings some fantastic pencils to bear throughout. Together, the two men manage to pack the book with not only drama and tension but a ton of action on various fronts that sees the Visitors on the losing end, at least for the moment. There is a lot of excitement to be had like most of the issues in this series and much like those, this one never fails to deliver. As for what Diana will do now that Lydia is gone remains to be seen but it should be quite a lot of fun to see.
