Thanks to Willie, Bron has been saved from Diana’s assassination attempt though who is to say if it is the last one or not? As it is, he is returned safely to Mike Donovan and Julie Parrish and they continue on their way until they arrive in a small town and are swarmed by a group of children. To say that is strange is putting it lightly and yet it is not long before they learn what happened to all the grown-ups, that being summed up quite easily in two words – the Visitors. Cary Bates who continues to chronicle this tale then cuts to Kyle and Elizabeth, the former filling in for Julie while she is away and thus making him the de facto leader of the Resistance – at least for the moment. With things in motion to get the group back on track, Kyle faces a challenge to his leadership, something that was quite unexpected but something he is willing to face head-on if it will prove himself to all those gathered here. While all of this is going down, Diana continues to scheme and pull the wool over the eyes of all the other commanders of the various motherships, not to mention Phillip who is her superior and while many question her orders, they seemingly follow them. The book also leaves off on a cliff-hanger as Lydia is about to be put to death and Diana who has a front-row seat, is more than happy as she tells Phillip that maybe now, they might be able to move forward properly without anyone working against them. Bates writes a good tale, moving things forward though where that might be, remains to be seen. The Resistance seems no closer to ridding the Earth of the Visitor presence and Diana who might have suffered a few setbacks, has become emboldened of late and filled with a confidence that what she does is the right thing, at least as far as her own goals are concerned. Mike and Julie are still looking after Bron who has a little confrontation of his own this issue, though where those two go from here is unknown for at some point they are going to have to let him go or trade him back to the Visitors. Still, all of it made for a great time and continues to make readers come back for more with each and every issue.
