In the final part of Hector Hall’s story, it finds the man gone and the Silver Scarab standing in his place, looking to end the world with the Eye of Ra thanks to a little help from Hastur. Against them stand the Infinitors, and they need to come together as a team, break through the fortress pyramid that houses the villain and rescue Fury, though not necessarily in that order. Leading them is Norda, now filled with a confidence he never had before and with powers given him by his grandfather. He knows what needs to be done and he aims to see it through either with the help of his team or by himself and so it is a good thing that they follow his lead for while they cannot believe what has happened to Hector, with every passing moment it seems as if there can be no doubt. It is nice to see Roy Thomas put Northwind in such a prominent role after having been gone from the book for so long and yet a little sad as well as once everything is said and done, he flies off to be with his people. Hopefully, this is not the last that readers will see of him as he has become far more interesting than he ever was previously. One of the better scenes of the book involves Lyta who is at the point of giving up, no longer caring what happens to her but Nuklon, who has been steadily falling in love with her, refuses to let her just give up and die. It is a touching scene amongst the carnage that is taking place and it gives Lyta hope when she realizes that there is something beyond Hector Hall, that life is worth living for. Vince Argondezzi does a great job on the artistic front, making it all come together in an exciting manner, especially once the Eye of Ra becomes involved and all looks hopeless. As it is, the Silver Scarab who seems destined to destroy the world fails to do so for deep within despite all evidence to the contrary remains a sliver of Hector Hall. That is the only thing that wins the day for the Infinitors and while they cannot see it, perhaps it was present in the fact that he let Lyta live. Wrapping things up, Thomas closes a chapter on Infinity Inc., setting events up for whatever is next to come and it should be interesting to see just where it leads.
