Letters – John Costanza

Being among his people, Jemm finds that he is happier than he has been in quite some time though he does find the worship of those that surround him slightly unnerving. It is one thing to be looked up to and another to be welcomed, but to be fawned and looked upon as a god – that is something completely different. As peaceful and as happy as he finds himself now, it is too good to last and things come crashing down as the Synn and her Koolars soon find the Red Saturnians. Greg Potter and Gene Colan craft an exciting story that finally finds both races of Saturnians coming into conflict after the destruction of their home world. Almost everything that the creators have been working towards begins to happen within this very issue, yet there are still some unresolved plotlines that get pushed to the wayside as the action takes over the book. Just what is the secret that Claudius Tull is keeping and what are his ultimate plans for the Saturnians? It is only briefly touched upon before Potter takes us away and it causes more than a little curiosity. As it is, not only does Jemm have to deal with Synn and her entire fleet reigning death down upon the surface of New Bhok, he must stop his own people from destroying the Whites with their ultimate weapon for Jemm is not only prince of the Reds, but of all Saturnians. Though one could hope that Jemm’s sacrificial act might be looked upon with favour by the two races, Potter does not make it that easy for Jemm or the reader and Jemm is now branded as a traitor. Potter’s story is filled with excitement and thrills, with sadness and shock and none of it would be possible without Colan at the artistic helm. If there was one man born to draw this intergalactic tale of a spacefaring race and their civil war, their lost prince and a little boy filled with hope and wonder, it is Gene Colan and the man outdoes himself once again in this latest issue. With that truly exceptional cliff-hanger, one has to wonder just what will happen next, though one has to know that Jemm has to survive. But what of Jogarr? What about Synn? With the Saturnians up in arms, both Red and White, will anything or anyone be able to bring peace at this point?
