Unwittingly released by the actions of a robot Hulk, Dromedan – a genetically engineered creature created by the Deviants with the power to control one’s mind was let loose after having been imprisoned for ages. Now it is up to Zuras, Makkari and Ikaris to put the creature back where it belongs, but doing so is going to be harder than they think. Jack Kirby, creator-extraordinaire handles the writing and art chores once again and he delivers a whopper of a tale that only he could tell. There is action aplenty, nearly every page sporting some from start to finish and as such, the book moves along at a very rapid pace. Sometimes that can be a bad thing as it leaves very little room for actual story, but it does not hamper Kirby in the slightest as we get to know Dromedan’s background while battling the three Eternals. While the plot is a simplistic one, it nevertheless entertains and provides the audience with just enough to keep them reading until everything ends with a bang. One of the more interesting things to be gleaned from all of this is that even Zuras, leader of the Eternals and arguably one of the most powerful beings on the planet is not immune to the mind of Dromedan. So if even Zuras can fall to the power of this being – who then will be left to stand against it? The answer comes in the form of Ikaris, who once enraged shows just how powerful he can be when called upon. In Dromedan, Kirby has created a very formidable villain and while he is ultimately defeated in this issue, there are not very many foes that are able to challenge the Eternals on this level and seeing him return at some point would be very welcome. As usual, the artwork is fantastic – both in look and content and Kirby really outdoes himself, each page of action being better than the last. Even Sersi manages to get involved at one point and it can be said, that without her help the Eternals may not have survived the encounter. Exciting to say the least.
