Sunday Sessions – BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2017

BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend is one of the best outdoor concerts there is, not because they do anything drastically different from any other show or feature a different calibre of artists, but because it is free. Strange as it may seem, but if a person wanted to attend the concert in order to see their favourite performer, there is no admission and that in itself makes BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend a must-see. What better way to not only experience a band you may have wanted to see but never could, but discover new artists that might be waiting in the wings or perhaps even give a second chance to somebody you had already written off. Over the course of two days, audiences get the chance to see Katy Perry, Clean Bandit, Lorde, Zara Larsson, Little Mix, Sean Paul, Haim, Plan B, Royal Blood, London Grammar, Mura Masa and many more. It is a fairly diverse line-up, though perhaps not quite as diverse as it possibly could be, but there is something for everyone covering rock, hip hop, pop and other genres. What also makes this festival quite unique is the fact that it never stays in one spot, instead making its way around the United Kingdom and giving different areas the chance to benefit not only from the tourism it might bring in, but for the local populace to experience something they might not have otherwise – this year taking place in Hull. If given a chance to go, BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend is definitely worth the price of admission.
