Genji has finally defeated the Hand of Five and for the moment, despite it being brief, the Shogun Warriors and their pilots are able to take a break. Unable to stay in Japan, Genji decides to go to America where she hopes she will be able to stay with her new friend Richard and while he is agreeable to it, Deena is not. Doug Moench introduces a little drama into the latest story and readers have to feel a little bad for Deena. Until recently, she has been kept in the dark about Richard’s absence and to make matters worse, her being in love with Richard only complicates things exponentially. Eventually Doctor Tambura summons the pilots for he has discovered an asteroid heading towards Earth, one that could cause an extinction level event. For the first time since the defeat of Lord Maur-Kon, the Shogun Warriors come together and head off into space to stop the asteroid, which quite obviously, they do. It is after the asteroid is destroyed that the most interesting event in the book takes place, that being the discovery of a base hidden within the dark side of the moon. What Moench reveals with this discovery is that hidden power behind all of the recent attacks on Richard, Ilongo and Genji. One also has to wonder if those men in black that have been plaguing Richard are also a part of the same villain’s forces or something else altogether. How long has this new foe been observing them and the Followers of the Light and is this villain even from the Earth? Herb Trimpe works his magic once again and everything from the dramatic scenes with Deena to the destruction of the asteroid and more is chronicled upon the page in the incredible manner Trimpe is known for. For now, it looks as if Deena, Judith and Kosei will take a backseat as the next issue promises action and mystery aplenty, with our heroes and this mysterious new threat.
