Sunday Sessions – John Carpenter

Unknown to many is the fact that John Carpenter is not only a successful director, but he is also a composer having made music for many decades now including themes and tracks for his films. Halloween, Assault on Precinct 13, Escape From New York, Village of the Damned, The Live, The Fog and many more are all privy to not only his strong brand of direction, but his music which has become iconic in the process. As of late he has turned his eye towards music even further, finally releasing work that was not connected with his film slate in the form of Lost Themes which went over quite well with critics and audiences alike. That has led to a second album, a tour and a third album scheduled for 2017. He might have stepped away from the director’s chair for a little bit, but he is no less prolific and has found a second career at this stage in his life, one he is just as passionate about. That means good things for his fans and for those that like what he does because not only do we get a chance to maybe see him live as he tours, but we also seem to be getting more music on a consistent basis which is a real bonus. Having him get back to directing films is what most would like to happen, but his past speaks for itself and if this is what the future holds for Carpenter, then it is more than acceptable.
