Now that they have gotten over being enemies, Rom, Starshine and the Soviet Super Soldiers team up to take on the Dire Wraith menace and find out just what it is they are doing in that factory. The book is packed with action and after recent events, Rom is not one for leniency, especially when it comes to the likes of the Wraiths and when his anger at the moment knows no bounds. To have his humanity within his grasp, stolen away and then thrust into battle almost immediately is not doing wonders with his mood but with Starshine at his side, he now knows at least a measure of peace. The big surprise in this book is what resides in that factory. There is of course the usual machinery, science and sorcery at play, but it is what the Wraiths are doing with it that is the surprising thing. Bill Mantlo keeps doing a stellar job on the story front and Sal Buscema continues to draw the most fantastic of pages between its covers making for one exciting package. While Rom and Starshine go about the business of banishing Wraiths, Darkstar, Vanguard and Ursa Major find themselves to be just as proficient at killing them. Though the Soviet Super Soldiers are none too sure what the Wraiths are exactly, they do know that they represent a threat not only to the Motherland but also to the Earth at large and so they do what they must and make no qualms about it. With a literal ton of all-out action that takes place on nearly every single page and a little character development for Starshine as she learns how to use her powers and how to banish the Wraiths, there is little more could you ask for?
