After defeating Brainwave last issue the Squadron and the JSA give their collective selves a pat on the back for a job well done. Green Lantern seems to be traumatized a bit after all he went through, but the man is tough and everyone has no doubt that he will pull through. So after much talking, including ideas on where the Squadron will get a new headquarters, they break up into teams and take off with Firebrand, Hawkman, The Atom and Doctor Fate heading back to the hotel where the JSA hold court to retrieve Thor’s hammer. Arriving there they find the hotel on fire courtesy of Cyclotron and his underground beasts that are also there for the very same reason. Meanwhile, Superman, Green Lantern and Liberty Belle have a threat of their own at Superman’s fortress which seems oddly familiar. Thomas and Ordway deliver a pretty solid book though it started out quite slow with a lot of dialogue heavy pages. It is always great to see the two teams together with all of the heroes in one place as it always lets your imagination run wild with unlimited scenarios. It is also really nice to see some new villains in the book, as well as having the teams work together to oppose them. Firebrand might have discovered a new power this issue, Johnny Quick is feeling a little jealous and some of our heroes might have realized that even their powers are not unlimited. Having Jerry Ordway still on pencils is a good thing as well, as they just keep getting better and better.
