Travis and Shakira are on their way back to Shamballah when they are attacked by some soldiers with wings. They kidnap Shakira and Morgan crashes upon the ground losing consciousness. Upon awakening he finds himself in a village of dwarf-like people who have been terrorized by the very same hawk-men that attacked Morgan. The villagers lead Morgan to the area where the hawk-men live and he is determined to get Shakira back no matter what. This was quite the action-packed issue with battles in the air and even up the side of a giant tree which made it a little more thrilling than the norm. A curious point to this issue is that it looks like Morgan once again slaughtered an entire race of beings. Sure, there is a chance that there is another aerie of these hawk-men somewhere in Skartaris, but when Morgan takes care of business, he does so with a finality that leaves no room for doubt. The younger reader might think nothing of it but the older reader might think such an act is just a little sad in its end result. Not too much development on the Shakira front which would have been nice to see. Even though Grell likes to pepper his books with a lot of action most times, which is great, a little more meat on the bones would be appreciated. Pretty good, but leaves you wanting more.
