Morgan and Prince Aram decide to part ways, then Travis sees a meteor and manages to get ambushed, gets himself mesmerized by the Cobra Queen to point where he almost lets her kill him, that is until a mongoose steps in and breaks the connection between them and Morgan kills her. While this is going on Mariah, Machiste and Tara see the same meteor and head to check it out. Mariah gets too close and finds herself transported to Wizard World, a time far before Skartaris came to be. After some time passes and she does not return, Machiste jumps into the portal to join her and are soon confronted by danger while the portal closes behind him. This was a decent issue by series creator Mike Grell and it was nice to see a second tale starring just the supporting characters as they are just as interesting as Morgan is. Both features were good, but the first one seemed a little too formulaic and similar to past issues. It did not mean it was terrible or anything of the sort, it was enjoyable and will do in a pinch for your sword and sorcery fix. If you are a long-timereader though, it will feel as if you have read it before and that was the only problem with the whole book. The Cobra Queen is a great visual and the whole book looks quite beautiful. It is nice to see the artwork holding steady from issue to issue without any dip in quality. Hopefully with the next book the direction gets a little more focused and innovative.
