Liberty Belle has just been elected as the first Chairman of the All-Star Squadron and now it is time for a little rest and relaxation while Sir Justin heads back to England as Churchill’s personal bodyguard. Hawkman and Hawkgirl head off for some alone time and Steel goes back home to see his fiancé but finds that she is married and it breaks his heart. Robotman decides to go home and tries out his new secret identity while Liberty Belle and Johnny Quick, with Firebrand in tow decide to go off and see Danette’s brother who has just been transferred back from Pearl Harbour. Finally, the Atom is a little late meeting his gal Mary at the Jefferson Memorial to say goodbye before he has to head back to service. Issue thirteen was a nice little book seeing our heroes catch a break before things start to pick up again. Roy Thomas does the usual good job establishing things and it is nice to get a little peek inside the personal lives of our heroes. Also good to see was the dynamic duo of Churchill and Roosevelt go their separate ways. For now at least. This was a fairly good issue from our creative team including Adrian Gonzales and Mike DeCarlo that was a little light on action but was fun nonetheless.
