Morgan and Tara continuing on their quest to rescue their son from the clutches of Deimos, have entered the Citadel of the Sorcerer Kings. Taking shelter and drink after being in the desert for so long, they come face to face with multiple horrors, but in the end, nothing will prevent them from continuing on their way to save their child. Mike Grell serves up another prime slice of sword and sorcery goodness in the lost land of Skartaris with this tale. Aside from Conan being published today, there are no other real barbarian/fantasy books out there. If someone were to take a crack at it they should definitely look at The Warlord as inspiration as it represents the genre so well. Grell’s pencils are fantastic still, but always seem inspired when he is coming up with monstrosities for our heroes to fight. It is also nice to see that the two page introduction spread is becoming the norm as it really paints a portrait of what the book will be about. An excellent and thrilling tale as always from the master.
