X-51 is back, safe and sound from the mob that calls itself the Corporation.  Everyone is surprised to say the least, fearing he had met his end.  The Corporation aims to get X-51 back as he just might be the ultimate weapon and with an ultimate weapon, the sky is the limit.

There is a lot of questioning by the army and a baseball game to boot in this final issue by Jack Kirby.  For whatever reason, the book was cancelled after this issue, poor sales or some other such thing.  It says it will be continued in the pages of the Incredible Hulk, which at least would let the story be completed even if it was not within its own title.  There was some intrigue, a little action towards the end of the book, but all in all it was quite a slow moving issue going out on more of a whimper than a bang.  Luckily, the book would be back on the stands after an extended hiatus with an all new team in place, but for now, this would at least be the end of our hero’s solo adventures.

  1. You read a lot of the lesser known heroes, and that is a really cool thing. I am curious in checking out the Machine Man now. Sounds like this may not be the comic to start with though!

    • I would not actually start with this unless you are a Jack Kirby fan or a Machine Man fan. This series was one of the first I read as a kid and I still love the character. But it has that rose-coloured glasses effect, being not as good as I remember.
