The twentieth issue of this title starts off in the thick of the action as a giant reptile creature attacks an oil rig, tearing it apart yet sparing the men aboard. That means a call to the Sea Devils who arrive on the Sea Witch to see what they can do to help. It is not long before they too are attacked though and their boat is torn apart as if it were so much kindling. Following the creature, now two, down into the depths, the Sea Devils are sucked into a strange vortex through which they discover a very different place than that from which they left. They come to realize that it is an alien planet and there are dozens of reptile beings. After a little misunderstanding, the Devils and the aliens get together and the air is cleared, the reptiles telling the divers of their history and the troubles they have been through. Writer Jack Miller crafts a fun story and while it bears a little resemblance to past issues, it still manages to entertain despite what might seem familiar. There is a bit of silliness to it all, how could there not be given the material but when all is said and done, one cannot help but come away with a smile on the face. Once again, it is Howard Purcell and Sheldon Moldoff who make every page come to life and they do a good job at bringing the action to the forefront and getting the readers excited for whatever may follow. As for the rest of the issue, the Devils learn that there are other villains, a group of men they have been mistaken for who have been taking advantage of the reptile race and so, like every good story, a team-up is proposed. While that is all well and good, to make things just a little bit worse, the bad guys have stolen the reptiles molecular ray gun which can transform one thing into another without any limits. This becomes evident when rain is turned into diamonds and a log is turned into a boat. A little bit of that silliness becomes apparent as the weapon can not only transform the molecules of one thing into another but can craft items as well. A plan is formed and despite the odds, the Sea Devils and their newfound allies can overcome the dastardly evildoers and win the day. The best part is that they also have some new allies should they ever need to call on them in the future as the portal beneath the sea remains open for all.
