It is a day unlike any other for the Sea Devils until they are called upon to find some undersea dwellers who have stolen some bags of coffee. That in itself is strange, for of all the things that they could have stolen, coffee seems pretty inconsequential. Be that as it may, these strange-looking mermen are the target and not the coffee and so it is that the Devils head off after them in their single-man subs. The race is on and soon enough, they come to an underground cavern which leads to a land beneath the seas, one stuck in time and one that transforms the team into the very same mermen they were chasing. Thankfully, as the Sea Devils now find themselves on land, the mermen they were after and now themselves as well, can breathe on land but that is the least of their troubles as an old foe has returned and is bent on making them pay for their crimes against him. Despite having no writer credited with this story, it is a fun ride nonetheless. From the first page to the last, there is a ton of action to be had and even better, enough fantastical situations to appease any reader of imaginative fiction. This book has everything one could want for a bit of science fiction including a new race of creatures who were once men themselves, dinosaurs, sea monsters and more. Howard Purcell and Sheldon Moldoff who illustrate this book make it all look good, whether it be the creature designs or simply the way the story flows. As for the heroes, they do indeed save the day, though it does take some doing. They mean to split up into two teams, one to find the cure to their condition and the other to get help but they get themselves caught instead. Suffice it to say, they manage to get themselves out of that predicament and do what they were intending and the bad guy gets himself caught, ready to face justice once again. Altogether, this was a fun tale, one that featured the Sea Devils doing what they do best. What would be most interesting to see is at least one character at some point in time wondering just how it is all of these strange and mythical creatures can exist beneath the waves without anybody batting an eye. Even when a new one shows up, be it alien or dinosaur or merman, nobody ever questions it. It is both one of the best things and one of the most ridiculous things to happen in this title which also happens to make these stories as good as they are.
