In one of the most fantastical tales yet to hit the book, the Sea Devils find themselves a little bored, having no missions on the books. Deciding to do a little diving just for fun, they see a UFO and decide to check it out and perhaps be the first divers to ever do so. What they find is incredible, especially when encountering a water-breathing giant within the ship. Capturing the Devils along with a bunch of sea life, they are trapped in the ship when it takes off and more incredulous than that, carries along the Earth’s oceans behind it. Given the amount of water though the saucer does gain a little help from several other ships that have landed worldwide. Their goal? To take the water back to their planet to fill up their diminished seabeds. Written by Robert Kanigher who has been with the team from the first and drawn by the legendary Russ Heath, the two craft quite the fun tale, one that finds the Sea Devils both in and out of their element. This all leads to several different conflicts and of course, trying to figure out a way to return the oceans back to the planet Earth before it is destroyed by the unnatural imbalance created by their loss. A second story as written by Hank Chapman finds the Sea Devils away from the oceans so prominently featured in the first tale and sees them move inland to use their skills in a well of all things. Said well is much bigger than normal and quite ancient so diving within is not a problem for the team as they look to find a missing person who had disappeared in its depths. That person was looking for ancient treasure and when the team finally made their way into the well, they discovered an idol, large and centuries-old as well as a feathered serpent who had been a guardian to all the hidden things beneath the water. The team is soon put to the test as they must not only battle the serpent, but other monsters as well, all at the command of a native priest who has seemingly adapted to breathing underwater and looks to protect that which belongs to his tribe. Chapman writes a fun adventure and throws in a twist at the end as well to keep things interesting though his story is not as good as Kanighers and is quite similar to a tale told in a previous issue. Altogether, this was a solid issue that would showcase the team doing what they do best against overwhelming odds, extraordinary for the reader but only a little out-of-the-ordinary for the Sea Devils.
