I Wanna Rock And Roll All Night – Nightmare Sisters (1988)

Nightmare Sisters is one of those films that a person has to see to believe. Starring the trifecta of B movie scream queens from the decade it was released – Linnea Quigley, Michelle Bauer and Brinke Stevens, they manage to charm viewers through a variety of ways to make for a horror movie unlike any other.

The entire affair begins with a fortune teller scene that was completely unneeded and which ended up being quite painful to watch. Why it was ever included is a question for the ages though if one were to surmise, it was simply to get the fortune teller’s crystal ball and paraphenalia into the hands of Marci as played by Stevens. From there, the film cuts away to three sorority girls, Marci as mentioned earlier, Melody starring Quigley and Bauer’s character Mickey. They are not the typical sorority girl that one often sees in film as they are frumpy and obnoxious, to say the least. One night they decide to have a party, invite some nerdy boys over and do a little spellcasting and that is where it all goes wrong as each girl is possessed by a succubus. Now they are looking to get their meal on with the boys and only an exorcist as played by Jim Culver can save them.

More than anything, this film is famous for showing a lot of skin and for those unsure of how much, there is quite a bit and surprisingly fits the plot as the women are supposed to be portraying succubi. The women do their best to seduce and capture the minds of their victims which is far easier than anyone would have thought possible and yet, each of them escapes only through the fault of some rivals who kidnap them and insert themselves into the picture, thus ensuring their untimely ends. While the nudity is what most might turn up for as the horror is non-existent and the comedy falls incredibly flat, the joy that that comes from the actresses is perhaps the best thing about this entire picture. The three of them look like they are having genuine fun on the screen, enjoying every moment as they play these three, crazy, high-strung women. The enthusiasm that comes off of them is infectious and so, while there may not be a lot of substance to the movie, it still comes off as a very entertaining time.

There are a lot of negatives one could harp on yet at the end of the day, Nightmare Sisters ends up being a bit of fun and what better than that in a cynical world. Corny, cheesy and truly terrible, it all turns out to be more than enjoyable and worth seeking out.
