Dr. Pierce has been arrested by the FBI and Brute Force is on the run. Thankfully, they have somewhere to go, namely to the house of one Charles Sutton who is like-minded with their cause. Sutton is only one man though and he is part of a larger environmental group called Fresh Air and before he agrees to help them out, he wants the executive committee of Fresh Air to give their approval before moving forward. This of course is where Simon Furman, the writer of this tale, makes things a little complicated as that approval is not forthcoming and yet, Brute Force needs their help. Events as they were, conspire to work against them as well and yet, those on the team manage to prove themselves at a chemical plant in Canada where a billionaire type has gone off his rocker and is looking to pollute the world in a very nefarious scheme. This leads to a confrontation with both a bunch of pollution-based monsters and with the man behind it all himself and while it was a lot of fun, it does show some limitations in the story and of how these characters are being used. It does not necessarily mean they could not face off against other types of characters or situations, it only means that Furman is painting them into a corner at the moment. With it only being four issues, this series has been quite enjoyable thus far and while it would be interesting to see the creatures expand further into the Marvel Universe, it is understandable why Furman keeps them in their own little world for the purpose of this title. While all of this is going on, Furman and artist Jose Delbo have not forgotten about Pierce who is currently being grilled by the FBI about a number of crimes, none of which the man has actually committed. That being said, how does a man of normal means combat somebody like Adam Frost, the head of Multicorp and the big bad of it all who has unlimited resources behind him? It will take more than his word to secure his bondage and hopefully, Brute Force will be able to find something or do something that will lead to the freedom of their friend and creator. Overall, this was a solid issue and saw the various plots moving forwards toward an end that may not be completely clear at the moment but one that should be fun in the reading of it.
