The Micronauts are finally on the way back to Homeworld now that Scion is gone, Marionette can walk again thanks to the Beyonder and there is nothing now to hold them back from doing so. They go there not only to free their friend Devil from being caught in a transporter stream but to save their planet Homeworld and thereby, the rest of the universe. For some, their recent experiences have been somewhat surreal, but they do know that getting back to Homeworld is going to be a good thing even should they encounter the worst, which in a way, is exactly what happens. Peter B. Gillis and guest-artist Howard Bender finally bring the Micronauts back to where it all started and where they discover that Homeworld is not what it once was. Where there were trees and lakes and living things, there is now nothing and the planet is erupting in fire. Such as it is, the team needs to head down to discover just where it is that Devil teleported from and just how they are going to restore their long-lost friend back to his own body. It is here that Gillis breaks the book into two side-by-side stories, one where most of the team deals with the situation with Devil while Mari and Huntarr discuss what they are feeling and what comes next. Everything comes together as the Micronauts find success and Devil is removed from Biotron’s storage banks, but he is far larger than normal and in great pain, speaking in a voice that is not his own. All of this leads to an ending that finds Fireflyte reborn and Arcturus Rann returned. What the issue does not do though is provide answers, answers to things like how will the Micronauts restore Homeworld if they are even able and even more basic – what next? One thing that is good is that Gillis finally moved the story forward and now the team can start doing what they do best and maybe see a little action as well. At the end of the day, this was a better issue than has been seen of late in the book and hopefully that continues to be an upward trend.
