Martin Landau was a familiar face on screens both big and small, appearing in everything from North by Northwest to Gunsmoke to the Outer Limits to Mission Impossible. He took audiences into the unknown with Space: 1999 and the Twilight Zone and starred opposite everyone from Elizabeth Taylor to Sidney Poiter to Johnny Depp. The man was an actor’s actor and he leaves behind an incredible legacy. Rest in peace.

He was a great actor….and his legacy will live on because we can still watch him in all the films and TV shows he did.

I’m in absolute shock! Did you know George Romero briefly worked on the set of North By Northwest? That’s a strange coincidence.

Sad news. Big part of my childhood thanks to Space:1999. Watching that show years later as an adult, its fascinating how unlike Captain Kirk he was (and Star Trek was still recent memory back then in the early/mid- 1970s). Koenig was a desk manager really, out of place and possibly inept for the job of commander of Moonbase Alpha. He was there to do a logistics job re: the nuclear waste. Landau was both a brave and frustrating casting choice for the show.
My favourite part of his, and one I will adore forever, was in Woody Allen’s Crimes and Misdemeanors. He was brilliant in that.

I pretty much loved him in everything, the man always adding rather than taking away.
