Big Brother Canada Season 4 Ep.16 – What Just Happened?!

bbcan16Holy crap, this episode was crazy. We got to see all the different sides of Mitch tonight, though I’m not sure that’s a good thing. He’s up on the block next to Joel, and though he’s freaking out a little bit because his cover has been blown, he’s also kind of excited to be in the hot seat. This is what he’d signed up for, fighting for his life inside the house. This may the first sign of insanity from Mitch tonight, but it definitely won’t be the last.

Well, even if Mitch isn’t upset, Nikki sure is. Apparently he’s her best friend in the house, and she’s brought to tears by Raul’s betrayal. I think she’s more offended than Mitch is by the fact that Raul dropped Mitch the second Kelsey came back into the house. It kind of makes me like her. She’s insane, but she’s got a good heart. Mitch has a plan though. He wants to do everything he can to get Raul to save him, and if that doesn’t work, he’s going to go on the offensive and turn the whole house against them. I honestly don’t know how that’s going to happen but we’ll see, I guess.

Raul is super upset too. He feels bad for nominating Mitch, but also hurt because Mitch played him and his cohorts. Mitch tries to convince him and Kelsey that he was more innocent than he actually was (by throwing Loveita under the bus and blaming her for spearheading the plan to split up the three), but none of them believe him. It’s like a repeat of week two, when they cornered Dallas and kept on him until he admitted to voting for Kelsey in week one, only this time Mitch sticks to his guns which just pisses Kelsey off even more. She knows the truth, and denying that truth only makes it worse. Personally, I think it would’ve been better if he’d just admitted to Single-White-Femaling her. At least it would be honest, and the boys would know that he truly wants to work with them.

Meanwhile, in the high roller room, we find out that Ramsey and Jared are secretly starting to work together. I’m kind of shocked by this news, but it’s good for Ramsey. He’s really got no one at the moment (besides Maddy, who definitely doesn’t count), so having Jared on his side will help him, for now. Until Raul and Kelsey decide to go after him. Jared and Ramsey (and the brothers) will be playing in this week’s PoV challenge, and the two toy with the idea of saving Mitch and putting up the brothers instead. We all know that eventually, they’re going to be able to play for themselves, so they probably need to get them out sooner rather than later. I like the brothers, but I’m all for this. I love Mitch and Joel, and I want one of them to win the game.

The PoV seems as uninspired as the HoH challenge this week. Instead of playing one game, the players will go head to head in three different casino-like games. We’ve got Bingo, in which the players have to play connect four by tossing balls into spaces in a grid, Card Toss, in which players toss cards into a giant hat, and Roulette/Black Jack, in which players roll balls down a little ramp onto the roulette wheel and try to get a total score closest to 21 without going over. There are six rounds, so each person gets a chance to play and choose a competitor. The winner gets three points, and the loser gets one. On top of this, everyone else bets on who will win. Guessing right wins them 2 points.

It’s all very convoluted. But they’re off, with Joel immediately losing to Mitch in Bingo and Jared beating out Ramsey in Card Toss. Then Jared goes up against Nick in the card toss and throws it to him for some reason, just so that everyone else will lose their bets. I don’t get it, especially since the brothers are now his target, but whatever. Mitch plays Raul in roulette; this is his chance to tie Jared and hopefully come out ahead. Unfortunately for him, Raul gets a perfect 21 and wins the round. So he’s pretty much out. After Raul throws his round of Roulette to Ramsey, Jared and Ramsey are tied for the win. The tie breaker is a round of Bingo. It pisses Mitch off (and I don’t blame him) to see Jared and Ramsey basically playing blind, not even trying and making a joke of the whole last round. His life is on the line, and they’re just joking around.

Jared wins in the end and goes to Raul with his plan to save Mitch and backdoor the brothers. I am seriously shocked when Raul shuts him right down. Doesn’t he want to save his best friend in the house?! Apparently not and he’s angry because Kelsey and Jared pressured him into nominating Mitch, and now they’re changing their target. That’s okay for them, but Raul’s the one who will have to pull the trigger on the brothers, and he doesn’t want more blood on his hands. Well, he’s definitely playing for himself now, and he’s putting the game above friendship. I guess he’s willing to sacrifice his best friend to get another step closer to winning the game and the money.

To step away from the drama for a second, we join Cassandra and Tim as they tell Phil they’re cousins. Phil clearly doesn’t know what to think, but he believes them for a few good minutes while they tell him some crazy twist involving them and the brothers. He doesn’t look too pleased when he realizes they’re just joking. Even better though, they invite him into the diary room and fool him again with the same prank! I guess the diary room gives them more of an official air, because he believes every word they say until they crack up and tell the truth again. Oh Phil. So funny. I’d probably believe them too!

Mitch makes one last ditch effort to sway Raul into getting Jared to take him off the block – something that Jared wants too, so that they can hopefully backdoor the brothers – even crying and trying to make him feel guilty for nominating him. Raul comforts him, but he doesn’t make a move to change Mitch’s fate. So, when the Veto ceremony comes around, Mitch goes into attack mode, a move that I really don’t understand. He calls the Big Three a cancer and determines to eradicate the house of the sickness they’ve spread around. The whole house is agape, and so am I. What the hell did he just do! I don’t believe that Jared was going to use the veto on him anyway, but he definitely won’t now! What the hell, dude?! Now he’s made three powerful enemies, and he’s the one on the block! But Mitch is determined that he’ll make it through the week and turn everyone in the house against the three. I have no idea how he’s going to do it, but he seems to think he’s got something up his sleeve.

I can honestly say I’m at a loss for words right now. I have no idea what’s going to happen. I don’t even know what I want to happen next. I will say that, unless he pulls out some Dan Gheesling-sized manipulations, Mitch doesn’t have a chance in hell of staying in the house. I guess all we can do is wait until tomorrow to see what goes down.

  1. This was an exciting episode. Mitch shows how good he is at this game, trying everything he can think of. I’m glad you mentioned the cousin joke. That cracked me up… especially when they pulled it off again. I love Tim. Imagine if he works with Mitch? 2 powerhouses for sure.
