Big Brother Canada Season 4 Ep.12 – Chaos Reigns Supreme

bbcan12Wow, what a week it’s been. There were two big moves and two somewhat powerful people out of the house, plus the news that one of them will be back in a week. I can’t wait to find out how everything is going to go down.

To say that Maddy stirred things up in the BBCan Grand is an understatement. Immediately after the second eviction, everyone talked about how much of an idiot she was for ousting her own alliance member. They’re not wrong. They’d just weakened the other side of the house by evicting Kelsey, and she more than evened the score against her own side of the house by evicting someone who could have protected her. Not only that, but her own alliance is falling apart because of it. Dallas feels betrayed by what Maddy’s done, and I don’t blame him. I’d be angry with her too for throwing them all under the bus to save herself when it wasn’t even needed yet. Maddy still insists that she did the right thing because Loveita was dangerous and could have won the whole thing. Which is true, but it blows my mind that she clearly doesn’t know the rules of getting through the game: you don’t vote out an alliance member until you’ve got the numbers on your side. And honey, you don’t. In fact, you may have single-handedly destroyed your own game, as well as Dallas’s and Ramseys’ and maybe even Joel’s.

Speaking of Joel, he is particularly devastated by Loveita’s exit. She was an ally of his, and now he’s all alone. Dallas says he’s got his back, but that may not be saying too much anymore. Cassandra assures him that he can count on her and Tim, though he doesn’t seem too relieved by that news. He’s not sure who he can trust now. Either way, I don’t think he’ll have too much to worry about for the time being. There are still huge personalities in the house, so he’ll be able to lay low for a while yet.

It’s around this time that the house guests notice a treasure chest in the living room, and it’s filled with pictures and a video from the “original house guests”, from 1916. They watch the video, which is filled with clips of them in black and white, all silent movies-like. Afterward, for the HoH competition, titled Blast from the Past, they have to answer multiple choice questions about what they’d watched. Dallas and Joel both really want to win this week so that they can keep themselves safe, but it’s just not in the cards for them. In the end, there is a four-way tie between Jared, Tim, Mitch and Cassandra, and Tim ekes it out the win. Tim for HoH!

Before Tim can figure out who he’s going to nominate, the house guests are informed that there will be no Have-Nots this week! Then they’re tasked with playing Big Brother Says, in which the house guests have to perform dares to win a pizza party. Maddy and Mitch exchange clothes, Phil eats a ghost pepper, then has to lick Nick’s armpit. Cassandra does a body shot off of Dallas, and lastly, Raul gives Joel a lap dance. It’s all pretty funny, and it’s nice to get their minds off the game for five minutes.

But soon it’s back to the task at hand – Tim needs to choose two house guests for nomination. Except he doesn’t want to get blood on his hands, so he decides to treat this HoH the way they do it in Australia: everyone has five points to spend on two different house guests that they want to nominate, and the two with the most points will be nominated. If they don’t play, 5 points will go against them, and if no one plays, Tim will just randomly pick two people. They’ve also got to give reasons for their nominations, which will give Tim that much more information about how everyone feels. It’s a brilliant move, gathering information without really getting blood on his hands, though Mitch and Joel both find it suspect. Neither one of them really trusts him. They both play his game though. The only one who doesn’t play is Dallas, which will only hurt him in the end.

So a house that was already emotional before all this happened is now drowning in chaos, something that Tim revels in, though I do wonder if maybe it’ll backfire on him in the end. Even though the nominations have come from the house guests themselves, they were forced to play by Tim. He wants to avoid the curse of the HoH, but the way he’s played may make everyone turn on him.

But his game did have the desired effect: we know without a doubt who everyone wants out, as Dallas by far has the most points against him. And beside him on the block is Ramsey, which surprises me a little. He’d seen it coming, but I definitely would have thought that Maddy would have more votes after what happened on Thursday. After all, everyone talked about how she now has no credibility after evicting her own alliance member. To me, she seems to be a bigger threat than Ramsey. She could end up going on the block in place of Ramsey or Dallas if one of them wins the veto though, as she also made the shortlist, along with Jared. Personally I’d love to see her or Dallas go home. Dallas was interesting to me at first, but now he just grosses me out. I won’t miss him if he goes.

And then we’ll have one of the girls coming back into the house! They’ve been able to watch the house guests over the past few days, and they’ve definitely gathered a lot of information from what they’ve seen, including the fact that Tim was clearly gaining information with all those nominations. They’ve also talked about the possibility that Mitch may have been playing both sides, as he was close to Loveita and to Kelsey’s alliance. Both of these guys could be in trouble when one of the girls comes back into the house.

What’d you think of the episode? What did you think of Tim’s mode of nomination? Do you think it was a smart move or a stupid one? And who do you think will be evicted this week? I can’t wait to find out, so I’ll see you Thursday!

  1. Tim was an interesting HoH. He forced everyone to reveal their hand in the BB Grand. I like the Australian style of play, but a bit of me feels like it’s a cop out… and I love Tim. It’d be more entertaining if Dallas stayed because of the Jared rivalry and house divide. I hope Joel can come up with a plan and convince Mitch to pick a side. Things are about to get complicated. I just watched the veto episode, and can’t wait for your thoughts on that one.
