For many fans, the past two weeks have been incredible. Not only were a lot of people tired of seeing one half of the Sixth Sense running the game, but once the BoB was eliminated, the house guests were actually able to play a more aggressive game. It was the perfect chance for first James, and then Becky, to bathe in a little of the blood of those who had been hunting them throughout the summer. Now the hunters have become the hunted, and the Sixth Sensers aren’t happy about it.
Austin isn’t sure what he’s going to do this week. He’s closer with Vanessa, but she might not have the votes to stay. He’s got to think about how the house will vote. No sense in casting the sole vote for someone and then have the whole house hate you. Steve feels the same way and just hopes that she’ll be able to pull something off to stay in the game. This is Vanessa, Steve. Of course she will.
Vanessa feels hurt and betrayed by Becky, and after hiding out in bed for a while, goes to her to get some answers. She’s confused because they’d all made a deal last week to vote out Shelli next after voting out Clay. Now, this is something I find absolutely ridiculous. Vanessa feels betrayed by someone she’s not even in an alliance with because they made a flimsy deal that she herself would’ve gone back on if she’d become the next HoH. We all know that she wouldn’t have followed through on the plan to oust Shelli if she’d been in charge. Not to mention the fact that she started the whole thing by going back on HER OWN plan to get rid of Austin a few weeks ago. It drives me crazy that she gets so hurt when people do the exact same thing that she does.
Anyway, Becky tells her that she’d felt forced into the deal they’d made last week, which I can understand. From what feedsters tell me, Vanessa is crazy when it comes to deals, talking everyone’s ear off and interrogating them until they agree to her plan. Back in week three, she got really angry at Clay for only being 90% sure about evicting Jeff. So I can understand Becky’s reason for nominating Vanessa. I wouldn’t want that kind of energy around me all the time either. Plus, even with the tears, she’s a really good player, and they need to eliminate that threat.
When Vanessa gets nowhere with Becky, she proceeds to throw her under the bus to James, letting him know that she’d talked about him behind his back and also that she’d blabbed everything about his plan to Shelli and Clay last week. So now of course James is considering getting rid of Shelli. He talks about it when Meg and Jackie, and they agree that Shelli will definitely go after them if she stays in the house because they got rid of Clay. But Meg, suddenly the voice of reason for the first time ever, tells him to try to think logically and take his emotions out of the equation. That command seems to shut James’s mind down, since that’s apparently the end of the conversation.
At the eviction ceremony, Shelli says a bubbly happy birthday to Jason (come on, Shelli, we can all see how fake you’re being right now), and Vanessa tells them all her very long, drawn out motto. Boring. So let’s get to the votes! Unanimously, the house guests evict Shelli, and a few minutes later, she joins Julie on stage. She says she feels a bit betrayed by Vanessa because she knows that Vanessa and James had a lot to do with her eviction. And her bitterness shows a little when she says she’s not sure if she’d want Vanessa to join her next at the jury house. Now she’s rooting for Steve and John, of all people. Yeah, I don’t get it either and neither does Julie. Shelli claims they were the loners in the middle. Okay, for maybe a week? Before that, you were definitely not in the middle, Shell.
Earlier in the week, the house guests had to watch looped videos of themselves in order to win the new HoH competition, Getting Loopy. Julie asks them questions about the videos, and they have to answer true or false. These questions seem to be either super easy, as they all pass the first question, or super hard, as the second question knocks out half the house guests, including most of the Goblins. In the end, Steve wins HoH, but instead of everyone pulling him into the storage room to try to make a deal, everyone just goes out to the living room to wait. Super weird. It looks like even when he’s HoH, everyone forgets Steve.
In a move I think was incredibly stupid, Steve nominates Jackie and Meg, and then they quickly get to the veto competition. Playing this comp, called Slippery Slope, is Meg, Jackie, Steve, James, Vanessa and John. They’ve got to roll their balls down their ski slope and get them into three holes, like that Labyrinth game most of us had as kids. The balls have to go into the holes in order, or they’re eliminated. If after 3.5 minutes, if no one has won, then the person with the most balls in holes will win. They all get their first ball in easily, and then a couple of them pull ahead. James is extremely close to winning the game when his ball falls off the side of the platform, leaving room for John to take the win!
He confers with Steve for a minute or so, and we see him nodding his head, but when it comes time for the veto meeting, he decides not to use the veto. Therefore, either Meg or Jackie will go home. When they give their little speeches, Jackie seems to know she’s going home, and she’s right. Everyone except for Becky votes Jackie out, and once she’s gone, a lot of the house guests are in tears. But not Liz. Liz looked especially happy to vote Jackie out. Makes me want to punch her. Lol.
When she talks to Julie, Jackie says that at one point, Steve was told that Jackie was going to target him when she was HoH, and I remember her saying she was going to put him up, but I can’t remember if he was actually her first target or not. If anyone could remind me, that’d be great.
Steve, though, is very clearly distraught, so I’m guessing things didn’t go down the way he wanted them to. I’d been shocked when he’d nominated Jackie and Meg over Becky, so I can only assume that Becky was his real target, and he’d hoped to backdoor her. And if anyone but John or Vanessa had won, he probably would’ve gotten his wish. But John and Becky are super close, so of course he wasn’t going to let Steve backdoor her! Duh! I’m guessing Steve told John to take one of the girls down, but he didn’t so that he could save Becky. He didn’t look happy to have to leave both girls up, but there was nothing else he could really do.
So there’s my winner, out the door! I’m so disappointed. All I can do is hope that she’ll be able to get back into a house full of goblins. I have no idea why they wouldn’t target the twins. Steve has a crush on Liz, apparently, but honestly, these two girls will never turn on each other. And I’m pretty sure that if it comes down to it, Liz will turn on Austin eventually too. These two girls are going to run away with the money if the house guests aren’t careful.
I have no idea what’s going to happen next. There are only four Sixth Sensers left, but one of them is Vanessa, who is extremely dangerous. She needs to think about ousting a twin too, or she’ll end up in fourth place. The other side of the house is splintered. Meg and James are partnered up, and then John is really close with Steve and Becky, but Steve and Becky hate each other, so there’s no strong alliance there. If the Sixth Sense can get their act together, I definitely see them making it all the way to the end, or at least three of the four of them, anyway. For now, we won’t know how things are going to go until someone is crowned HoH.
Is it Sunday yet?

“Even when he’s HoH, everyone forgets Steve”… Hahaha. Too true. I was also surprised no one chatted with him. His nominations were shocking. Like you, I was thinking he wanted to back door Vanessa. But no dice. Steve makes me laugh. He thinks everyone is out to get him. I think he’s an insignificant threat just floating along.
I’m on the other team here, I guess. I was hoping Van stayed. She just plays so hard. Deep strategy. I think she gets emotional when she’s outplayed or can’t fight / manipulate her opponent. I hope the season comes down to Bex vs Van.
Oh… and James was like the fulcrum here, pivoting the game on a dime (too man allusions? Hehehe). Van made a good move, spilling the beans on Becky. I don’t know about you, but I thought warning Clay and Shelli was a weird move at the time.
Great analysis, once again. I’m looking forward to Sunday’s episode too.

Steve thinks he’s playing this great, strategic, stealthy game. He doesn’t realize that he’s not even there. lol. But he does make me laugh too, so I want him to stay….as long as he doesn’t evict any more of my favourites.
Yeah, I think we’re on opposite teams. I was totally on team Austin until he went nuts for Liz. Plus, I tend to like the underdogs, so I’m still hoping the Goblins can take it over. I don’t even know who is going to be in the final two, but I have a feeling the twins will be right up there.
I definitely think it was in Van’s best interest to spill the beans on James. It was a smart move on her part. Becky warning Clay and Shelli the week before was weird. And unneeded. It wasn’t like telling them could make any difference anyway.
