One of the main complaints from fans last year was that the show was boring. The house guests just sat around all day, every day and just hung out and mostly got along. Well, we don’t have that problem so far this year. It’s like everyone this year is playing extra hard to make up for the lack of game last year. It’s definitely more interesting, that’s for sure, but in the end it’ll cost most of the players half a million dollars.
When we return to the house, we find out some of the house guests’ reactions to Meg being put up on the block. Audrey is obviously happy; she’s safe this week. Meg herself is upset, but it’s less for herself and more for Da’Vonne. She likes her, and doesn’t want to see her go home. Da’, on the other hand is a little less misty-eyed for Meg. She’d love for the BB Takeover twist to save both girls, but if not, she’s ready to kick Meg to the curb. And Shelli…well, Shelli runs upstairs to the HoH room to bawl her eyes out. She knows that Da’ is after her, but she feels really bad that she’s the one who’s going to be sending her out the door. I guess someone forgot to tell her that she shouldn’t have won HoH if she didn’t want to evict anyone.
Da’ does feel a little hope though, when Kathy Griffin tells them about the BB Takeover. A British style phone booth has been placed in the living room, and she’ll call fifteen times with tips about the game. Of course, most of the “tips” are biting insults to the guests-“deodorant was invented for a reason;” “showers are supposed to be daily;” “lose ten pounds.” But one tip will be the last laugh, the power to keep three people from voting this week. Everyone is pretty excited, but no one is as excited as Da’, and it skyrockets when she turns out to be the one to pick up the lucky call. She keeps her calm though and only tells Jason, but she’s ready to fight again.
She knows she’s got Jason’s vote, so now she only needs four more people to vote her way. Vanessa, John, and Audrey all say they’ll vote to keep her when she talks to them, and Audrey even goes so far as to propose they work together again. Audrey knows that with Da’ still in the house, she won’t be the only target. If Da’ goes home, Audrey becomes most hated again. Da’ is surprised, since this is her arch nemesis, but she doesn’t really have a choice at the moment. They shake on it.
While not trying to secure votes, Da’ and Jason conclude that there’s got to be two of Liz. One is apparently nicer than the other. And one is apparently heavier than the other. To them, it’s obvious that Liz is two different people. Do they keep this information to themselves to try to use it to their advantage? Of course not! They tell their news to Jeff, James and Meg, and pretty soon the whole house knows. Shelli comments on the fact that Liz always wears the same colour nail polish, as if that’s a dead giveaway.
So NOW Da’ takes the opportunity to talk to Liz and tell her what everyone is saying. The two agree that they need to work together. Everyone is already gunning for Da’, and now they’re going to be coming after Liz too. Da’, this might’ve been a good thing to do BEFORE you told the whole house about Liz. You could’ve used her to campaign for you. Now all you have is possibly one more vote in your corner. And you call yourself a super fan.
Voting time comes around, and Julie tells the house guests that the people who can’t vote aren’t even allowed to be a part of the ceremony. They have to go sit out in the dining room for some reason. And the people Da’s picked to sit out are Jeff, Becky and…Jackie? WTF? I don’t even remotely understand. I even typed Clay’s name in my notes, thinking that he was a given, since he’s a definite vote against her. What the hell could Jackie do? She hasn’t made a single move in the whole three weeks she’s been here. I’m so confused.
Anyway, the vote is a predictable 7-2 to evict Da’, with her only allies being Jason and Audrey. On her way out, she only seems to hug Jason and Meg and gives a little side hug to Vanessa only because she can’t seem to avoid it. Then she’s out of the house. She tells Julie that the house is full of cowards who are too afraid to even nominate Audrey because she’s transgender. She also thinks that Audrey is going to ultimately win because of this. And this is why she thinks that she’s out of the house-because she outed Audrey as a liar. Not because of her fallout with Clay or her declaration that she would target Clay and Shelli.
I think it’s interesting that in some cases, she seemed to be one of the smartest people in the house, but in other cases, she was completely off-base. One second I’d be yelling at the TV because she’d say exactly the thing I was thinking, and the next second, I’d be yelling at the TV because she’d say something incredibly stupid. The house will definitely be a little less interesting without her there.
But it’s time to move on. This week’s BB Takeover is brought to us by football’s Rob Gronkowski, who is all about partying and winning. He declares there will be no have-nots this week, and then he urges the house guests to the back yard to play Gronk Pong, this week’s HoH challenge. It’s basically a giant version of beer pong. The giant cups are numbered from 1-55, and the house guests need to use the launcher-basically a movable slide-to shoot their balls into one of the cups. The two people with the highest scores win HoH.
I know that sometimes the house guests have time to practice on a makeshift version of the game before the challenge, and if they had that opportunity this time, some of the house guests definitely didn’t learn anything from the practice. The trick of the game is to let the ball roll most of the way down the slide and then push down on their end of it to launch the ball into the air in order to get it into the cups. Jackie and John and a few others miss the cups completely, and Steve’s ball bounces out of a cup to the side of the playing field, so they all receive zero points. In the end, Austin has the highest score, earning him one of the HoH positions. Second place is a tie between James, Liz and Vanessa. These three step-up to shoot a tie-breaker ball, and Vanessa comes out on top.
OMG, I’M SO EXCITED. Austin and Vanessa are so far my favourite house guests, and now they’re both HoH. And they’re working together already, so when one is dethroned, they shouldn’t have to worry about being nominated. Who will they go after though? As far as I know, they more or less get along with everyone, except maybe Audrey, who spread rumours about Vanessa last week. Perhaps that’s why Audrey looks so miserable while all the other house guests are talking animatedly with each other. Could this be it for her? We’ll find out!
