Big Brother Eviction #1: Master Manipulator

bb3
Does anyone else feel like a whole month has been played in this first week of Big Brother? After being locked up in a house 24/7 for weeks on end with the same people with no outside connection except for your captor, one could tend to go a little nuts. But after only two weeks? Wow. People are definitely playing hard here, and there’s no doubt that at least some of the house guests will be burned for it.

Who are playing the hardest? Jace and Audrey. Once he’s nominated, Jace, feeling (justifiably) angry and betrayed, goes on the offensive by going directly to James to find out what’s up. I can honestly say that I’d probably have a heart attack if I were in James’s position. I wouldn’t be able to handle being called out like that, so I guess it’s a good thing I’m not on the show. James handles it like a pro though. He doesn’t back down, just tells Jace that he’d wanted to get a big target out of the house, and Jace is pretty much the biggest one there is. When Jace tells him he feels betrayed, James tells him not to take it personally and reminds him that they’re playing Big Brother.

Now, I have to say that I feel a teensy bit bad for Jace. Of course he’s going to take it personally. We all would. Hell, I remember playing a Survivor board game and feeling really pissed off when I got voted out, and there wasn’t anything at stake there. On the other hand, he kind of made his own bed. He’s been obnoxious the whole time, and everyone is over it. They’re all ready for him to go home.

I’m trying to decide how I feel about Audrey. I literally gasped when she told Jace to his face that she had nothing to do with him getting nominated. She pretty much spearheaded the whole thing! If she finds it this easy to lie like this, especially when it’s very clear that she’s lying through her teeth, I wonder what else she’ll be capable of. I also wonder how long she’ll last. Everyone seems to know how much she’s lying, and they’re all still upset with her for pulling so many people into their alliance. If she isn’t careful, she’ll be next on the chopping block. Jace himself tells her that she’s manipulative and that if he stays in the house, he’ll be gunning for her next. Empty threats Jace, empty threats. Everyone knows you’re going home.

But now it’s time to find out who the twins in the house are! I figured a few days ago that it was probably one of the four safe people, and I was right. Our twin is….Liz! Her twin is Julia, and apparently they’ve switched four times since they entered the house. When they do their switcheroo, they only have ten to fifteen minutes to catch each other up on what’s gone on since the last switch, so there are plenty of chances to screw it up with the other house guests. So far, no one seems to have any idea, though Audrey mentions that she thinks there’s a twin twist, but I don’t know if she actually thinks that, or if she’s just throwing out possibilities. Liz/Julia is pretty smooth when Audrey asks her if she’s got siblings, so far, no one is the wiser.

Time to get back to Jace. At the eviction ceremony, both he and Jackie give their final speech, and while Jackie is all about love for the other house guests, Jace goes on one last rant about feeling betrayed by the 8-person alliance and by James in particular. That, of course, won’t win him any sympathy, so when each house guest votes, the only person whose vote I’m shocked by is Audrey, who suddenly votes for Jackie. Thinking back on it, it’s a pretty brilliant decision for someone who relishes in lying to everyone. Now she’ll easily be able to pin the vote for Jackie on Austin, who really did vote for Jace. He needs to watch out, because I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s her next target.

So Jace exits the Big Brother house and joins Julie on stage, and to his credit, when he’s asked about the other house guests, he compliments Audrey for her courage in what she’s doing for transgender people. It’s a little surprising, considering she was more or less the mastermind of the whole operation.

Now comes the fun part: Kathy Griffin! She’s a super fan, so I love when she comes on the show. When Julie asks her what she thinks of this year’s house guests, Kathy comments on all the meltdowns and the not-so-secret and ever-changing alliances. She’s pretty much right on the nose with all of it. She and I are on the same wavelength. She likes Audrey, but she needs to get out of bed (which tells me she watches or at least keeps up with the live feeds, as Audrey’s bed-ridden sulk fest wasn’t shown on TV), and Da’Vonne, but she needs to stop fighting, and Vanessa, who I do like too.

She goes on to talk about her twist, which is all about getting the last laugh. There will be a phone installed in the house, and she’ll call them periodically throughout the next few days. The person who answers the seventh call will earn the power to keep three people from voting next week. There is massive potential for this twist, and since none of these house guests seem capable of keeping a secret, there’s no telling what’s going to happen next week.

But first thing’s first. We need to crown two new Heads of Household! They’ve been randomly split up into two groups, and the winner of each group will be HoH. This competition is called Ginger Fever, a new show that Kathy is working on. But she hates her billboard (which also features fellow ginger Andy Herring, the winner from two years ago), so the house guests are tasked with creating a new billboard. One by one, they’ve got to bring puzzle pieces from the box to the billboard and then put it together. Simple enough it seems. In the first round, Steve is in the lead for a good portion of the competition, but Becky comes out on top. The second round goes easily to Shelli.

So now we’ve got two female HoH’s! And only one of them is in the 8 person alliance, and even then, she’s not in the inner circle. Who knows what’s going to happen! Any predictions on who will be nominated? Who looks like they may be next to go? And will Liz/Julia be able to keep fooling the rest of the house guests and make it past the fifth eviction? Let me know your thoughts!
