Prince Daka and his comrades stand triumphant over the fallen members of the All-Star Squadron though all is not lost as Guardian manages to arrive in time before anyone is killed.  Soon, everyone starts to come to and the battle resumes again.  Things take another turn for the worse though when Daka abducts Liberty Belle and demands that Starman’s gravity rod be given for ransom and what follows is a fight between Tarantula and Firebrand as they find themselves on the opposite side of the fence on what to do.  This was another exciting chapter that concludes the latest storyline and it finds our heroes tested over what they should do for the kidnapped Liberty Belle.  Do they risk the possible harm to thousands, if not millions of people if they give up the gravity rod or do they help their friend who represents a reality over the former scenario’s possibility?  Should they choose the good of the one or the good of the many?  It is a scene that has been played out in many forms of media and it is great to see it played out here and action-packed to boot.  Another battle soon takes place with Daka and his men again as the Squadron finally catches up with them and it is a deadly one, but in the end, while they might have won, Daka gets away to fight another day.  There was some wonderful character development from Roy Thomas in the book, specifically between Firebrand and Tarantula as we now know w little bit more about them.  While both are loyal to their teammates, Tarantula tends to think of the bigger picture while Firebrand only looks at the now.  Tsunami is also given a closer look as she might not be all that she appears as are the rest of her companions.  Overall, this was a very enjoyable issue and it leaves you wondering what our heroes are going to do next.

    • I genuinely wonder. I read most of the series a long time ago, but not in many years. So each issue is like a nice little surprise. With Starman’s fate left hanging and Daka getting away, it does leave me guessing – at least until I do eventually read it.
