There have been a lot of bands over the years that have failed to hit the number one spot with either an album or a single.  Some of those are fairly surprising and you would not think that it were true – bands like The Clash, The Ramones, PJ Harvey and more.

Today, the Sunday Sessions would like to feature a few bands that are in the same boat but are a little new to the scene, sort of.   All of these bands have great songs, and popular ones too but they have not hit the very top spot.  They could always hit number one later on – they simply have not as of yet.  It is hopeful these tides change for they are great bands.

Phantogram – They have been around for a while now and their latest album was excellent, but alas, still no number one.

The Joy Formidable – The band has put out two full-length albums and both were great examples of modern rock, yet that elusive top of the charts position remained out of reach.  Perhpas with the third album, things will change.

Maximo Park – Despite having five albums, the top spot has never graced the band.  They came close with the second album, just not close enough.  Check out their latest, Too Much Information – it’s pretty good.

Delain – Symphonic metal may not be a genre you think of a lot, but it is pretty huge with a lot of bands like Nightwish and Within Temptation making the rounds yearly to millions of fans.  Delain is another such band, but unlike their counterparts, they have never gotten a number one.  A great band that will hopefully score with the next album.
