Sunday Sessions – Charlie Parker

With Whiplash getting a couple of Oscar nods, Charlie Parker gets the spotlight in today’s Sunday Sessions.  In the film, JK Simmon’s character Terence Fletcher looks to the ‘Bird’ as inspiration as he pushes his students to be the best they can be.  Parker is a jazz legend, a virtuoso on the saxophone and one of the most talented musicians to have ever lived.  Tragically, his life was cut short but if he should have gone on, who knows what more he could have done for the art form.  The man was entrancing and there are few musicians alive today who can claim to be so.  Check out the shows below and gain a little more appreciation for the man and his music.
