Soul legend Sam Cooke recorded a number of great songs and albums before his untimely death which would go on to lasting fame and Amy Winehouse, though only recording two albums, would also be remembered for two great albums of fantastic material before she as well, sadly passed on.  Portrait of a Legend is a compilation of arguably the best tracks by Sam Cooke under one roof.  There are a couple of gospel tracks, his hits including A Change Is Gonna Come, Cupid, Chain Gang and more, and even a cover of Patti Page’s Tennessee Waltz.  Back to Black would be Amy WInehouse’s crowning achievement, going on to win numerous awards and feature many acclaimed singles like Tears Dry On Their Own, Rehab, Back to Black and the deluxe edition would even feature a cover of Cooke’s own Cupid.  What they could have done should they have stuck around can only be guessed at, but what we got was tremendous.
