Another week packed with comics and another new number one hits the stands with this title by Joshua Williamson and Carlos Magno. Robocop has been in a number of books over the years but this series is probably the one that rings true more than any others. Having proven himself on books like Ghosted, Captain Midnight and Nailbiter, it was no question that this book was a ‘must buy’ and Williamson packs this book full of authenticity and it, more than any others, captures the feel of the first motion picture from 1987. Adding to the great script and dialogue from our writer, Magno illustrates the book with amazing detail and also manages to grab your attention with how spot on the characters look to their movie likenesses. The story was a fun one which follows Robocop throughout his day and the introduction of a controversial new gun law. We also get to meet the new big bad that our robotic hero will be facing through the series and so far, and if this issue is anything to go by, it looks to be like this series will be action packed and full of drama. The book also had the strange, but good effect of making you want to see the movie again. For a first issue, it hits all the right buttons and is definitely one that deserves a shot if you are looking for something new to try.

Much like Batman Eternal this week, Futures End finally delivered a little payoff and continued to follow through on a couple of its storylines. Frankenstein as seen last issue has lost an arm and in its place is getting Hawkman’s grafted on. While this is happening, Hawkman wakes up, restored by the Nth metal and is wondering where his appendage is. Lois on her quest finds nothing as Cadmus Island is cloaked, Batman Beyond is looking for a little help and Mr. Terrific is examining the future OMAC tech that came back with Terry McGuiness. There is a scene which is the aforementioned payoff which shows why Cadmus wants Grifter and Deathstroke working together and it is a big reveal that was quite surprising. Like a few of the previous issues, this book seemed like it was put out of sequence once again as that big reveal would have made a perfect ending instead of the one we did get with S.H.A.D.E. and Father Time mentioning something about an oncoming threat. So once again the book fizzled out at the end, but on the whole was a much larger improvement than the previous week’s issue.
