Per Degaton’s plans are not going according to plan. His hirelings, the other villains of the book, are not performing to expectations and in fact allow the Shining Knight to escape as well as fail to stop the other members of the Squadron. Not only have they failed in that respect, but the members of the JSA have been woken up. So instead of accept defeat, Per Degaton returns to 1947 knowing he will never remember everything that has happened. Another excellent issue by Roy Thomas and Rich Buckler with a lot of old-school action in the book, and a lot of teamwork, but it works even reading it today. A well done book is still a well done book. Buckler’s pencils are fantastic and definitely have that classic style that still gets reprinted on merchandise no matter how many years go by. One of the best visuals in the book is the Spectre rising from the volcano and growing even larger than that while awakening the JSA. As the book is about the Great War, it does end on a patriotic note with our heroes stating ‘Remember Pearl Harbour.’ Quality stuff.
