This particular book sees Morgan, Machiste and Mariah face off against an ancient version of the wolverine. After defeating it, Morgan is wounded pretty bad and is left for dead after some people on woolly mammoths kidnap Machiste and Mariah. Morgan is soon rescued and cured of his wounds by some sort of mystical she-creature/abominable snowman and after becoming friends with the beast, Morgan heads off to the city to the city to accomplish a rescue of his own. While there, he ends up learning a thing or two about compassion and judgement in the process.
Another wonderful issue of The Warlord by Mike Grell that reads like an old Thundarr the Barbarian or Herculoids cartoon, though written better than they ever were. Mariah is quite the beautiful woman and it is no wonder that everyone they come across wants to have her for their own, for whatever nefarious purposes they might have. Really good to see Grell humanizing the snow-beast, even though it was much more than that, akin to King Kong or the Creature From the Black Lagoon. True, sometimes a monster is just a monster, but sometimes they are not and Grell hits our emotional buttons perfectly with the realization of it. It is nice to see the title getting better with every passing issue and getting harder to put down.
