The Deviants have attacked New York City in Jack Kirby’s latest masterpiece and Ikaris stands on hand to push them back, though he alone may not be enough to do so. With the arrival of the Celestials, the fate of the Earth is in doubt and Kro of the Deviants will not have it. His solution? Begin a war with humanity and make it seem as if the attack comes from the Celestials so that humanity in turn will attack the gods. At the moment, there is little that Margo can do about anything except stay under the protection of Sersi and it is a good thing too as the latter is forced to use her magic in defence of themselves. One of the more intriguing things that take place is Kirby once again rewriting history to suit his new character, this time involving the witch Sersi. He tells his audience that this woman and the Circe of Greek myth are one and the same and within this new realm Kirby is exploring, it makes total sense. Additionally, it gets the reader thinking about other legends of old and just how it is that Kirby might work them into his tale of gods and men going forward. There is a fair bit of action present which makes up the bulk of the book and it gives Kirby a chance to flex his artistic muscles, filling the pages with excitement as Eternals battle Deviants. Though it had seemed like Kirby was done with the Celestials in their bubble during the last issue, he takes the reader back for a visit to see how Doctor Damian and Ajak are doing with the former having the time of his life, but also feeling overwhelmed by the import of the Celestials presence. Amongst all of this, Kirby drops another interesting tidbit, one having to do with Olympus and suggesting that it is there that the Eternals reside. How this coincides with Marvel’s Olympian gods is yet to be explained, but knowing Kirby, it will be a lot of fun finding out. Will humanity take the bait and attack the Celestials? Can Ikaris and possibly the rest of the Eternals stop what is coming or will the space gods wipe the Earth clean once again? A lot of questions still remain and the book continues to get better with every issue.
